About the work

Part 1: The base and evergreen covering

Compare polystyrene, tightly bound hay and branch bases, then follow the making of a firm hay ring. Noble fir and pine are wrapped in overlapping layers, keeping the centre open and hiding the wire; fabric or felt closes the reverse.

Part 2: Pinecones, apples and spices

Large cones and decorative apples sit on wire stems among the greenery. Cinnamon, star anise and small berry groups bring finer texture to the red-and-brown palette. The second video follows grouping and attaching these details, then making the wire hanger.
